Our
summer camp gives children between the ages of 5 and 14 the opportunity
to participate in the world of horses. Our students learn not only
riding skills, but emphasis is placed on horsemanship skills that
develop riders into safe, responsible, and educated equine enthusiasts. We
strive to create riders that understand equine instinct and behaviors;
a skill that will allow them to become excellent communicators with their
mounts, even as a beginner. We are not a competition barn, and strive
to create enhanced self esteem in our riders. We value teamwork and sportsmanship.
Safety is our highest priority. We place great emphasis on matching the rider with his/her mount to create the most beneficial learning environment.
Our
all level camps focus mainly on the "never ever" rider,
the beginner rider, and the intermediate level rider. We also offer
2 weeks of advanced level riding camps, as well as an intensive CIT
(Counselor in Training) upper level program.
Our students have the opportunity to ride twice a day. All of our beginners have a walker, or spotter, until they are able to control their mount (sitting, steering, and halting)
Horsemanship classes are taught daily, including approaching and
leading your mount, grooming, understanding types of tack, horse and pony
bathing, feed and nutrition, understanding different
riding disciplines, horse and pony breeds, mane and tail braiding, horse
and pony colors, and basic veterinary care.
Our staff is CPR and First Aid Certified.
A daily
craft and free swim is offered every day.
Every Friday, the children invite their family and friends to watch as they show their stuff in our Friendly Camp Show. The children prepare and participate in a complete horse show. Ribbons for everyone.
Our summer camp runs for 8 weeks throughout the summer.
